~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vintage Baby McGuffey dress for 12 inch compo baby doll by Madame Alexander,1940s, tagged ALEXANDER. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From my mother's collection. My Mom did not leave me a lot of information, just small pieces of papers on the dolls and outfits. So bear with me, and ask me any questions about these dolls & accessories,if you wish. And I will try to answer them. DESCRIPTION = (also see all photos,as they are a big part of the Description). This cotton, red and white, print dress is fully tagged (as shown) with the Madame Alexander cotton label. Evidently this dress was made for the Baby McGuffey doll, and as I looked for photos of this specific doll, it looks to me like it might have belonged to the EARLY version of this baby doll made of composition,around the 1940's. (There were two sizes of this doll issued by Alexander in the 1940's: A 22 inch version and a 12 inch version. But I think this dress belongs to the smaller version). NOTE= Interestingly, there was a compo Baby McGuffey compo doll listed recently, and she had on the exact same dress, but in the blue and white version. Also, from that listing, it seems that this dress had a white pinafore over the dress, but I cannot find the pinafore, so I am listing just the dress. SIZE= Dress measures 7 inches long and is 5 inches wide (also,see additional PHOTOS for measurements). CONDITION= It has been washed but needs ironing.The dress is of course almost 75 years old, so it is no longer “crisp” and “vivid” as it once was. But there is NOT a lot of yellowing to the dress. (Use the ZOOM feature). The lace on the collar is a bit frayed (see photos) but with ironing it should look better. NO ODORS. From a non smoking and pet free home.
